Welcome to Albatross Class

Hello, I’m Neil and I am lucky enough to be teaching Albatross class this year at Parklands Educate Together.

Term 4 is set to be an exciting one as we travel back in time to explore the fascinating world of Ancient Greece! We will be diving into this remarkable ancient civilisation, discovering its gods and goddesses, myths and legends, daily life, and lasting influence on the modern world.

In English, we will be reading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan — the first book in the Percy Jackson series. Inspired by the thrilling adventures in the story, the children will be writing their own “Defeat the Monster” tales, packed with action, suspense and heroic quests!

In Maths, our focus will be on decimals and statistics, developing confidence in number skills and learning how to interpret and present data clearly.

In Art, we will be exploring the bold and colourful world of Pop Art, taking inspiration from artists such as Andy Warhol. The children will experiment with vibrant colours and striking designs to create their own eye-catching artwork.

Science will be particularly exciting as we celebrate Science Week, with this year’s theme: “Curiosity – What’s your question?” We will be encouraging the children to think like scientists, ask big questions and explore possible answers. In our science lessons, we will also be learning about the life cycles of mammals, understanding how animals grow and develop.
